Karo people (What is Karo? Read below, please) never construct their traditional house with nails. No one will find any nail there.

What is Karo?

Karo is one of the ethnic resided within the area of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Some people called Karo as “Batak Karo”, where the others just consider it as an independent ethnic called “Karo”.

Lewati gerbang kemajuan untuk terus melangkah ke depan. Foto diambil di bukit Gundaling, kota Berastagi, tanah Karo, Sumatra Utara, 2007. Hujan dan kebetulan ada yang lagi bakar jagung di sekitarnya, jadi agak berasap. Latar belakang adalah gunung sibayak dan… parabola. Hehe.

The picture was taken at Gundaling hill, Berastagi town, Karo District, North Sumatra, Indonesia, 2007. It was raining and somebody was barbecuing something around the area. That’s why the smoke come up. On the background, we can see Mount Sibayak. And btw, off course parabolic antenna…
